We had our Thanksgiving potluck at work today and it was a smorgasbord of deliciousness. I ate myself into a food coma by 3:00 in the afternoon. I’m already excited for turkey sandwich leftovers tomorrow. My contribution was the above chocolate cupcakes with festive Fall acorns. I made the acorns from caramel pieces and dipped them in chocolate and sprinkles. Although I never tried them, the coworkers said they were tasty.

She’s my new best friend and Finley’s new arch nemesis. We’ve named her Rosey and we’re amazed with her skills so far. Watching her work is a bit mesmerizing. Rosey sweeps her way through the house in an hour and returns to the exact place she started…amazing. I was hoping Finley would befriend her, but instead she’s terrified. I found her this morning outside hiding underneath the patio set. Poor girl. Well, Rosey isnt going anywhere, I’m in love.

I experienced my first earthquake today…the locals called it a shrug, I call it an earthquake. The best word I can use to describe it is unsettling. It really was the strangest feeling…left me a bit queasy actually. Having the whole building shake for the slightest second. Slight enough for me to question if it had even happened. Weird. It ranked a 3.1 on the scales which from what I can gather is pretty minor. I was definitely happy to come home to our flat screen still attached to the wall.

Election day has always been one of my favorites. I love exercising a right that women before me fought so hard for, studying up on the candidates and propositions, filling in the tiny circles on the ballot, getting a special sticker that you can only get once every four years, religiously listening to NPR and cozying up in front of the telly and watching how my vote had an effect on the future of the country. Very exciting!
I was a first time voter in California today and had TONS of propositions to make decisions on. So many that I opted to do my research beforehand and fill out a sample ballot with my choices to bring to the polls with me. I do not understand why the state can’t write those props so they’re straightforward and I dont need a 40 page booklet to decipher them. Honestly, how is that encouraging young people to vote? But I digress. How cool is it to be a part of such a historic election.

1. A successful delivery of some tasty treats to a friend’s party on Sunday.
My friend Katherine generously hired me to make cupcakes for her son’s birthday party. Yellow cake with butter cream icing…yum. It was my first time making pumpkin cupcakes, but I was really happy with the way they turned out. I was a bit nervous about delivering them without encountering my usual clumsiness, but luckily I had an excellent helper. Thanks B.

2. Having LEMonade mentioned on another blog besides one of my lovely friends.
I know I’m one of like a hundred…but its still pretty cool.
I’m listed on the fourth line down…

Congratulations to Chris and Steph! Two happy parents of a beautiful baby girl Sophia Grace. She was born Sunday evening weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. with a full head of wavy brown hair. Steph had a c-section and has had a bit of a rough recovery, but is doing much better this evening. In the words of Chris, “Sophia is super sweet!” and she is perfectly healthy and eating well. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they will be able to go home on Thursday. Oh how I wish I could be there to hug them and kiss baby Sophia. More precious pics to come!

Check out the good luck card I had so much fun making for a friend today. She is running the SF Nike Women’s 1/2 marathon this weekend. Yes, that’s the marathon I was supposed to run in too, but had to drop out due to minor stress fracture in my foot….booo! I’ll be there next year for sure. The Team in Training colors are purple and white so it should match perfectly!

I had SO much fun putting these booklets together for each of my bridesmaids. Paper + organization = it doesnt get much better than that! Each booklet contained a thank you note, a rough timeline of events, dress ordering details with fabric swatch and contact info for everyone. I think my favorite part was lining the envelopes. I will never send another plain, boring envelope again! I hope the girls heart them as much as I do and find them useful! Now on to my next project…
